Benna Kushlefsky worked most recently in the Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy Program at Boston University School of Law. As Associate Director of Advocacy Programs, Benna taught oral and written advocacy skills and supervised intermural and intramural moot court programs. Subsequently, she served as a Lecturer, teaching legal research and writing to international LL.M. students.

Benna began her career as a Fellow at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Montgomery, Alabama, where she assisted in civil rights impact litigation on reproductive freedom, school desegregation and cases against white supremacists. She then worked as a Staff Attorney for the Georgia Death Penalty Resource Center, representing death row inmates in post-conviction appeals.

Benna holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and received her J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she served as an Editor on the Harvard Law Review.

As an Access to Justice Fellow, Benna will work with the Innocence Program Clinic at Boston College Law School. She will assist and supervise students as they investigate and litigate innocence claims for prisoners incarcerated in Massachusetts, focusing specifically on advocacy skills and legal writing.
