Connie Vecchione

Connie Vecchione retired in 2019 as chief bar counsel at the Office of Bar Counsel of the Board of Bar Overseers. Connie was appointed to this position in 2007 but had been with the Office of Bar Counsel since 1980, originally as an assistant bar counsel and then as first assistant bar counsel. As chief bar counsel, she was active as a board member of the Supreme Judicial Court’s Standing Advisory Committee on the Rules of Professional Conduct and as a board member of Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers.

Connie is a 1970 graduate of Brandeis University and a 1974 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law. She was previously a law clerk with the Massachusetts Superior Court (1974-75) and in private practice (1975-80). She also taught professional responsibility as an adjunct professor at Suffolk University School of Law from 1988 through 1995. While at the Office of Bar Counsel, she was a frequent lecturer at CLE programs, including MCLE’s twice-yearly presentations of How to Make Money and Stay Out of Trouble, and was the author of numerous articles on ethics for the BBO website. She was also an active member of the National Organization of Bar Counsel.

Connie will be volunteering with the CORI and Re-entry Project at Greater Boston Legal Services, assisting clients in sealing criminal records. She will also be volunteering with the Pension Action Center at U. Mass. Boston, helping clients understand their rights under pension law and claim earned retirement income benefits.
