Betsy Burnett is a Member at Mintz, where she has practiced as a litigator since 1979. At Mintz, Betsy has served in many management roles, including as Chair of the Litigation Department. For the past few years, Betsy has been transitioning her commercial litigation practice to others at Mintz, and concentrating her work exclusively on pro bono representation of clients. She has represented clients in asylum proceedings, SIJS matters, domestic violence cases, and eviction proceedings.
Betsy is the past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Greater Boston YMCA and continues to serve on its Executive Committee. She also serves on the Advisory Council for KIND (Kids in Need of Defense), an advocacy and legal representation organization supporting children seeking asylum and other immigration relief. Betsy graduated from Brown University and the University of Michigan Law School.
As an Access to Justice Fellow, Betsy will continue her work with KIND, both in terms of representation of its clients and as a member of its Advisory Counsel, and she also will continue to work with the PAIR (Political Asylum/Immigration Representation) Project in the representation of its clients. In addition, Betsy will explore with the YMCA and other social service organizations ways in which they can provide (non-legal) services and support to children living in the Boston area who are seeking asylum.
