This 90-minute workshop with Q&A will take a closer look at nonprofit lobbying on the state, local and federal level. Beginning with the difference between advocacy and lobbying, and the prohibition on political campaign intervention by 501(c)(3) nonprofits, the presenters will explore the definition of “lobbying” for federal and state purposes; IRS limitations on lobbying by 501(c)(3) nonprofits; and the basics of how to register to lobby at the federal, state and local level.
