DESCRIPTION:This event was originally scheduled for February 9. \nRegistration*: Registration for this event is now closed. We will be hosting the same event in Framingham on April 13. Please contact Machiko Sano Hewitt with any questions.\n*Registration is required for security clearance. \nBreakfast and networking from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. A buffet of pastries\, fruit\, juices\, coffee and tea will be available. \nThe seminar will give a general overview of basic federal tax and election law for 501(c)(3) organizations\, explore ways to organize specific voter engagement activities\, and discuss best practices during an election year including the following questions: \n\nWhat is the difference between advocacy and lobbying?\nWhen and how is it okay for a nonprofit to lobby and what happens if a nonprofit crosses the line?\nAre nonprofit organizations completely prohibited from any involvement in candidate campaigns?\nDoes federal election law apply to 501(c)(3) organizations?\n\nOpening Remarks:  Esther Schlorholtz\, Senior Vice President\, Director of Community Investment\, Boston Private \nSpeakers: Teresa Santalucia\, Partner\, Klein Hornig LLP
