But public charities also need to be knowledgeable about the limits the Internal Revenue Code places on the ability of nonprofits to engage in lobbying\, the types of advocacy that count towards the IRS lobbying limits\, the restrictions on a nonprofit organizations engaging in what is considered political activity\, and how to keep their civic engagement work nonpartisan. This workshop will cover Internal Revenue Code rules regarding lobbying and political activity for public charities\, as well as the federal Lobbying Disclosure Act.
