SUMMARY:Free Consultation: Helping Mission Driven Organizations Select the Right Entity for Success
DESCRIPTION:Application: Apply here. You will receive a Zoom link upon approval. \nThis program\, sponsored by the Boston Bar Association’s Tax-Exempt Organization Section\, aims to assist prospective nonprofit groups and people who want to help others but aren’t sure where to start. \nThis consultation will help attendees understand the available entity choices so they may select the right one to set them up for success. For example\, should an organization: \n\nBecome a tax-exempt nonprofit?\nWork through a “fiscal agent”?\nMerge with an existing nonprofit?\nBecome an unincorporated association and trust?\nCreate a for-profit LLC?\n\nThis program consists of a one-hour training for lawyers and organizations and another hour for a break-out consultation session\, where each organization will be matched with a team of pro bono lawyers. During the consultation session\, the pro bono legal team will help the assigned group review the group’s mission\, goals\, and stakeholders\, and recommend the form of entity best suited for their endeavors. \nThis consultation is designed to meet the evolving needs of aspiring nonprofit groups with increasingly diverse compositions and goals. \nPresenters: Janet Rickershauser\, Hurwit & Associates; Russell Paul\, Lawyers Clearinghouse. \nPro Bono Volunteers: Teams led by members of the Steering Committee of the Tax-Exempt Section.

SUMMARY:Nonprofit Bylaws Consultation (Virtual)
DESCRIPTION:Apply*: Click here. Zoom link provided upon approval.\n*You will also be asked to provide a copy of your bylaws\, if applicable. This will help the volunteers better tailor their advice to your organization. \nBylaws serve as the main governing document of your organization; the bedrock upon which its foundation rests. When bylaws are not carefully created and maintained in accordance with the best practices outlined in your Articles of Organization\, cracks may start to appear in this foundation\, hampering your work and taking away from your organization’s mission and resources. \nJoin us for a consultation program on nonprofit bylaws. This 90-minute consultation session will be staffed by lawyers from Weil. They will review your current bylaws or assist you in creating a new policy and make recommendations as necessary. \nThis is designed for any nonprofit looking to change\, update\, or create bylaws\, from established longstanding nonprofits to those who have just incorporated and want to make sure they have legally-sound bylaws.
