Our 20 new Fellows\, drawing on their years of legal experience\, will work on a range of projects involving environmental\, bankruptcy and consumer protection law\, legal guardianship aid for Boston Public School students with special needs\, providing services to reduce recidivism in young men on the South Coast\, strategic planning assistance to nonprofits\, increasing access to justice in the trial courts for pro se litigants\, representing indigent asylum-seekers and detained immigrants\, and much more. \nNow in its sixth year\, there are 94 Access to Justice Fellows who have provided over 70\,000 hours of pro bono service to 58 partner organizations. The program continues to support all Access to Justice Fellows as they do engaging pro bono work\, remain active members of the legal community\, and help people and groups in need.

Our seminar seeks to demystify the terminology\, myths and realities of contracts. \nThe first portion\, presented by a pro bono corporate and transactional lawyer from a major global law firm\, will review the basics of the terms of a contract and the purposes they serve. It will help you understand what your organization commits to when it when it signs a contract\, the contract negotiation process\, and when seeking legal advice is prudent. SUMMARY:Legal Clinic for the Homeless (Bridge Over Troubled Waters)
DESCRIPTION:The Lawyers Clearinghouse operates free legal clinics throughout the year at a number of area shelters. In order to qualify\, clients must be homeless\, using shelter services\, or otherwise income eligible for free legal services. This week’s clinic will match pro bono attorneys with homeless clients at Bridge seeking legal assistance. \nPlease note: Bridge is a shelter intended for young people who are 18 to 24 years of age. Clients outside of this age range should come to one of our other clinics at the Pine Street Inn\, St. Francis House\, the Medeiros Center\, MBHP\, or the Southampton Shelter. \nClients should sign up in advance if possible by contacting the shelter representative: \nAlex – 617.423.9575 x234 \nClients who are unable to sign up in advance may still attend a clinic. We try to assist with most legal issues but do not take any domestic relations cases (divorce\, custody\, child support\, etc) or represent defendants in criminal trials. \nThe full schedule is available to view and print in English and eight other languages.
