After graduating from Yale University, Ernie was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, West Africa. Following graduation from University of Pennsylvania Law School, Ernie was the attorney-in-charge of a neighborhood law office of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. He then became a staff attorney at the National Consumer Law Center in Boston. In 1987, Ernie began serving as an AAG in the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General where he held several administrative positions in the Consumer Protection Division and the Trial Division.
In 2006, Ernie became a judge on the Boston Municipal Court and then later on the Massachusetts District Court. After reaching mandatory retirement age in 2015, he was “recalled” as a judge. In 2019, he retired as a judge.
As an Access to Justice Fellow at Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP), Ernie plans on representing low income defendants in the District Courts. VLP’s mission is to increase access to justice by delivering high quality pro bono civil legal services to eligible clients in the Greater Boston area.
