Janet F. Aserkoff

Janet F. Aserkoff is in the process of retiring as General Counsel to New Boston Fund, Inc., a position she has held since its founding in 1993. From 1969 to the present, she has represented Charles River Park and New Boston Fund (including its many property-owning entities) in all aspects of commercial real estate law. She began her legal career in Atlanta, Georgia where she practiced with Atlanta Legal Services Agency.

Janet is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, magna cum laude, and Emory University School of Law. She has been very active at Mount Holyoke as a fund raiser and volunteer for its Alumnae Association and for the College. She served a member of the Board of Trustees of Mount Holyoke College from 2006-2011. 

Janet is a long-time member of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. She received its President’s Award in 2009, has served on its Board since 2010 and was its President from 2016 to 2018. She is a member of the Massachusetts IOLTA Committee for a term 2016 through 2019.  She is currently a member of the Board of the Phyllis and Jerome Lyle Rappaport Charitable Foundation. She also served on the Board of The Rashi School for 14 years including chairing its Building Committee during the design, financing, and construction of its current facility which opened in Dedham in 2010. 

For her Access to Justice Fellows project, Janet will work at Community Legal Services and Counseling Center (CLSACC) in Cambridge where she will focus on issues of housing and disability matters. CLSACC provides free civil legal aid and affordable psychological counseling to low-income people. Its services combat the effects of poverty and violence by helping clients and their children meet basic human needs for safety, income, health, and housing.
