Jonathan Ellman

Jonathan Ellman retired in 2019 after completing 11 years in the Payment Processing sector of the Financial Services industry. By virtue of a series of mergers/acquisitions, he held a variety of positions in that arena, first as General Counsel for Litle & Co. and most recently as the Divisional GC, North America for Worldpay, with stints as Chief Counsel for Regulatory Compliance, Government Affairs and other disciplines for Vantiv in between.

Prior to his concentration in Payment Processing, Jonathan served 25 years as General Counsel for CommercialWare, a software company he joined as a startup after graduating from New York Law School. He was born and raised in NYC and received his undergraduate degree from Clark University. In 2013, he was recognized as a Leader in the Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

In addition to his professional career, Jonathan has served as a Board Member with a variety of non-profit organizations. He is currently engaged with MassKids, and in the past worked with the Cambridge Community Center, Greater Boston PFLAG, Wightman Tennis Center, the Wayland Scholarship Committee, and Temple Shir Tikva, where he additionally served as its President. He has provided pro bono services as a mediator for the Woburn District Court, and as a participant in the ACC/Lawyers Clearinghouse/Mintz sponsored Pro Bono Clinic-in-a-Box.

Jonathan will partner with the Harvard Legal Services Center Project on Predatory Student Lending, a leading legal organization representing students against the predatory for-profit college industry and the policies that enable the industry to exploit the promise of higher education.
