Karen Quandt practiced law in the Chicago area for 38 years prior to retiring in 2014. She was affiliated with the law firm of Tenney & Bentley for 16 years both as an associate and as a partner. Karen opened her own office in Wilmette, IL in 1990, specializing in family law and continued to practice law as a sole practitioner until 2014,when she closed the office and moved to Boston. During her career, she was a program presenter for women’s support organizations including The Lilac Tree in Evanston, IL and The Women’s Exchange in Winnetka, IL. Karen also did pro bono work in the Circuit Court of Cook County Domestic Relations Division Facilitator Program and as court appointed Child’s Representation or Guardian Ad Litem in high conflict custody cases. Karen graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Journalism in 1973 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School in 1976.

As an Access to Justice Fellow, Karen will be working as a conciliator in the Settlement and Early Resolution Volunteers (SERV) Project of Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP), Senior Partners for Justice. She will assist in the settlement of cases at the Suffolk Probate and Family Court. The mission of VLP is to increase access to justice by delivering high quality pro bono civil legal services to eligible clients in the Greater Boston area.
