Marian Glaser

Marian was a Senior Attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services and the Hale and Dorr Center specializing in housing law and working with organizers representing buildings of tenants facing displacement by developers. In 1994, Marian became a solo practitioner sharing space with several former legal services attorneys and focused on tenant housing issues, discrimination, personal injury, workers comp, and a variety of other civil litigation matters. After closing her Boston office at the end of 2014, Marian volunteered at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis as a visiting legal researcher working with students, journalists and other volunteers on several social justice projects until May 2018.

Marian received her J.D. at New England School of Law in 1978, an M.P.H. at Yale University in 1969 and a B.A. at Skidmore College in 1967. Prior to entering law school, Marian worked as a health planner at the Federation of Boston Community Schools, the Lynn Model Cities Agency, the Massachusetts Department of Community Affairs, and as a lecturer in health planning at the Boston University Metropolitan College.

As an Access to Justice Fellow, Marian looks forward to working as a consultant with More Than Words (MTW), a Boston based organization that works with and employs approximately 400 youth, aged 16 – 24, who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless or out of school, empowering them to gain critical life skills and work experience by managing online, retail and wholesale bookselling businesses. After leaving the core program, MTW staff continue to support the youth toward higher education and employment. Marian hopes that other Fellows will be available to consult with her about legal issues related to foster care and juvenile justice.
