Michael Fuchs is a product director for Wolters Kluwer and has spent the last 30 years working on commercial loan documentation software. Michael originally developed the Medici commercial loan documentation system while working as an associate with Kaye, Fialkow, Richmond and Rothstein (acquired by Stroock & Stroock & Lavan). In 1998, he brought Medici to PCi Corporation (maker of the Wiz family of software products for compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act and the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act). PCi and the Medici system were acquired by Wolters Kluwer in 2004.
Michael has since managed a portfolio of products focused on commercial loan documentation; his proudest accomplishment was repurposing a product focused on SBA lending in a matter of weeks during the COVID pandemic in early 2020, providing financial institutions with an efficient way to process loans and forgiveness requests under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). Over one million jobs were saved with PPP loans processed through this system. Michael also worked as an associate at Mintz, Levin et al., prior to joining the Kaye Fialkow firm.
Michael is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received his B.S. in Economics and Geology in 1983 and a Cum Laude graduate of the Harvard Law School in 1986.
Michael has an interest in immigration law stemming from all of his grandparents being proud immigrants to the United States and his concern with difficulties facing recent immigrants in the current political environment.
As an Access to Justice Fellow, Michael will volunteer with the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project on various cases, focusing on immigrants detained at the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls, RI. Formed in 1989, the PAIR Project provides free legal services to asylum-seekers and promotes the rights of detained immigrants.
