Lawyers Clearinghouse seeks a law student to join us as a Legal Intern for our Nonprofit Assistance Program (NAP). The NAP matches Massachusetts nonprofits that need legal assistance with pro bono attorneys, organizes workshops and legal consultations on a wide range of issues, and provides resources for nonprofits.
The NAP Legal Intern will work closely with the Nonprofit Programs Manager to facilitate intakes and nonprofit referrals and assist with workshops and resource development.
Responsibilities
- Assist with referrals to pro bono attorneys by following up with clients to expedite the intake process
- Assist with workshop preparation and logistics
- Review and comment on resource materials and assist with online research
- Work independently and collaboratively with Lawyers Clearinghouse staff
- May also attend NAP Committee meetings, Client Committee meetings, NAP workshops and community events, and Lawyers Clearinghouse board meetings and events
We’re looking for a law student intern who wants to explore public interest legal services and nonprofit organizations, enjoys seeing the big picture and accurately tracking the details, likes to ask questions and learn, and diligently completes assignments.
The internship is paid via stipend, with an expected time commitment of 5-8 hours a week, and is mostly remote. It is expected to run from May through August.
